Choujyuugiga（Bird and beast caricature） Kutani Ware Mug Cup Ping-Pong정가 ¥2,800
This Kutaniyaki mug depicts a Birds, Animals, and Frogs caricature-style character playing ping-pong.
Birds, beasts, and caricatures are picture scrolls depicting anthropomorphic animals such as monkeys, rabbits, and frogs, and are said to be the oldest cartoons in Japan. It is said to have been drawn by Toba Sōjō Kakuyū (鳥羽僧正 覚猷) from the late Heian Period to the early Kamakura Period, but this is not certain. The paintings are still carefully preserved at Kozanji Temple in Ukyo-ku, Kyoto.
The comical scenes depicted by the vividly drawn animals are very popular even today.
